SurfaShield nextG is the next generation of anti-reflective coatings: a water and isopropyl alcohol based suspension of fused silicone and titanium dioxide nanoparticles that dries to a transparent film on glass. It is anti-reflective, because it reduces the nano and micro-roughness of the glass; it transmits more diffuse light at high incident angles, because of the high refractive index of the titanium dioxide; and it is anti-soiling, super-hydrophilic and photocatalytically self-cleaning against organic deposits. Its alcohol content and wetting agents let it go onto conventional SiO2 pre-treated solar glass as well as plain glass, by spray for retrofits on existing installations or by rollerblade deposition industrially. No heat treatment step is required after application, though heating improves anchoring and service life.

Key features

  • Anti-reflective — reduces the nano and micro-roughness of the glass
  • Better transmission of diffuse light at high incident angles
  • Anti-soiling, from the semiconducting titanium dioxide nanoparticles
  • Super-hydrophilic surface
  • Photocatalytic self-cleaning against organic deposits such as bird droppings
  • Suitable for both AR pre-treated and plain solar glass
  • No heat treatment step required after application
